About Me

My name is Deborah Dufel...
and I've lived a remarkable life.
With my husband of 40 sum years, we've raised two children, rehabbed at least 4 houses, gave assistance to a landlord, and in the last decade or so, we've traveled. Lots and lots of travel, usually together. While I was an editor, I'd leave my feral teens and walk Hadrian's Wall or the highlands or the Battlefield of Waterloo. Along the way, I heard stories of others who were traveling and needed an ear.

Now I'm in my next adventure: writing books about the resilience of "common" women and men during WW2. Stories I've heard throughout our travels.
Before we took to the world, I worked in marketing, presentations, proposals... essentially, getting things done. I was that mum who would do the presentations for city councils to get playgrounds built. For personal development, I joined the International Toastmasters.
As a member of Romance Writer's of America, I presented the class: "Sexy Grammar Go Figure." It wasn't the normal lecture of grammar, not a comas, semicolons was discussed. The event was about word choices how a simple word change can enrich a book and its emotions.
Life can be a challenge, and like many others, I've had mine. Due to a Lyme infection, I ended up in a wheelchair. I got out of it, but not before I learned to "bunny hop" and drive my children nuts that I could keep up with them at the Parish fair. They figured out a way to get mom to stop... have her hold your retainers and park you in the middle of the mid-way.
Then our greatest adventure; moving to Mackay Australia. They were the best two years of our lives; we traveled, made amazing friends, and saw much of the world. We learned world history that we never knew, all around our 60th years.

It is my goal now to share the adventures and stories that I spend my lifetime curating, and inspire others to do the same. I'm a writer, but more than that, I'm a storyteller, story-curator, and story-enthusiast.
